Another Big Announcement

Last April, Derek Leman announced on his blog that we had some big news to share and that it would happen on our new blog. And just to make clear … it is not a baby.

But the time has now come, so here it goes …

We’re surrendering to bi-coastal whiplash and moving back to Los Angeles in two weeks. I will be assuming the pulpit of a distinguished scholar, Rabbi Dr. Stuart Dauermann, who is undertaking some new exciting adventures. On July 23rd I will become the new Senior Rabbi of Ahavat Zion Synagogue in Beverly Hills and Monique will be transferring to her current organization’s HQ in downtown LA where she’ll be the Director of Advocacy and have a corner office with a view.

We’ll live in a Jewish neighborhood in the Beverly Hills area, enjoy a diet of fish tacos and falafel, work on our tans, and try to finally put down some roots.

We are very excited about this next great adventure and look forward to all HaShem has in store. And of course we’ll keep blogging!

About Rabbi Joshua

I'm a Rabbi, writer, thinker, mountain biker, father and husband ... not necessarily in that order. According to my wife, however, I'm just a big nerd. I have degrees in dead languages and ancient stuff. I have studied in various Jewish institutions, including an Orthodox yeshiva in Europe. I get in trouble for making friends with perfect strangers, and for standing on chairs to sing during Shabbos dinner. In addition to being the Senior Rabbi of Simchat Yisrael Messianic Synagogue in West Haven, CT, I write regularly for several publications and speak widely in congregations and conferences. My wife is a Southern-fried Jewish Beltway bandit and a smokin' hot human rights attorney... and please don’t take offense if I dump Tabasco sauce on your cooking.

We’ve enjoyed the 2 (short) years with you and Monique out here. We’ll miss being able to hang out, but we are really thankful to have close friends on the West Coast.

  2. Kari Miller says:

Mazel tov! That’s great for you guys!

  3. Rabbi Joshua says:

Thanks so much. We are really going to miss you guys, and you’re welcome to visit anytime!

  4. Congratulations, Joshua and Monique! Looks like some very exciting things are happening with both of you.

  5. James says:

    Sounds posh. 😉

Have a good and safe move and enjoy your new digs.

  6. Ben says:

Well, it’s about time someone was able to snatch you up! You are a gifted and dynamic man of God. I pray for vision, direction, and abundant blessing for you and Monique as you build and extend the Kingdom together!

  7. “Greener pastures” sounds like a plot at Forest Lawn. Ewwwwww!!!

I am not ready for such yet, despite appearances 🙂

But I am traveling widely representing MJTI and Messianic Judaism Media, and writing more than formerly, so being sent forth from Ahavat Zion is timely and good for me! I am also looking forward to the great things you and Monique will bring to this fine and strategic congregation.

Welcome back to the Left Coast.

  8. Rabbi Joshua says:

    Rabbi Stuart,

LOL … that was not what was meant by “greener pastures” at all. But I can see how it may sound that way.

I actually realize that you will continue to be just as busy (if not more so) and still have plenty more to contribute to the future of Messianic Judaism.
