Rulers vs. Disciples

Just a line from today’s Daily D’var (daily commentary on the Torah portion and gospels portion I send out to an email list). This is part of a comment on Luke 18:15-34:

Rulers are like those who “rely on themselves that they are righteous” (18:9), who “justify themselves” (10:29; 16:15), and who are “lovers of money” (16:14; see Luke Johnson). Disciples, by contrast, leave all to follow and rely on Yeshua, are justified in Yeshua, and love the kingdom.
