City of David, Balanced Article

Israel Finkelstein takes a good middle ground in this article about the City of David, the southern ridge of the old city of Jerusalem. For example, he notes that Palestinian claims that there was never a Temple are rejected by scholarly consensus. He also notes other excessive Palestinian claims and the gullibility of the media. Yet Finkelstein is also quick to point out reasons why he thinks recent claims to have found David’s palace and some Solomonic fortifications are dead wrong.
